Royals manager Nigel Adkins: "We are well aware that Alfie is a goalscorer by trade and that he only needs one opportunity to grasp it. We didn’t want to lose him in the summer but that is the way that football is. We are very mindful of the threats he will pose but even then we can work on it. We know that he has got a wide variety of goal scoring prowess about him."

Cardiff boss Russell Slade: “With Glenn Murray and Simon Cox they have some big threats. Oliver Norwood is decent on the ball in midfield, and they get forward and try to overload you in the full-back area. It’ll be a different game, a different obstacle, and a different challenge to overcome again."

The referee for Friday night's game is James Linington. He has taken charge of 16 games this season, producing 39 yellow cards and five red. His assistants will be Justin Amey and Brett Huxtable.
