First up for the U23s is a battle against Leicester, who sit two places above Reading in the Premier League 2 table and just a point in front. A win could be huge for the Royals who currently sit at the bottom of the division following a difficult few weeks in the league, however a win on Monday could change the outlook of the table drastically for Reading.
Good form in the Cup and playing in front of a home crowd at Madejski Stadium could make all the difference for Royals as they look to end the season on a high, so be there to back Martin Kuhl's team next Monday evening.
Reading vs Norwich City, Sunday 30th April, Premier League Cup Semi-final, Madejski Stadium, 13:00 kick-off.Free entry and free parking
The next clash at Madejski Stadium for the U23s will be the following weekend in the Premier League Cup semi-final, when the Royals welcome Norwich City to Berkshire for a Sunday afternoon kick-off.
The Royals, who knocked Newcastle United from the competition in the previous round, have looked impressive in the Premier League Cup this season, with only the Canaries standing between them and a place in the final.
Norwich have had a good run in the competition themselves, beating Fulham 6-5 on penalties in the Round-of-16 before ousting Liverpool from the tournament in the quarter-finals, so Sunday should be a big test for Reading in their quest for the trophy!
Reading vs Sunderland, Monday 8th May, Premier League 2, Madejski Stadium, 19:00 kick-off.Free entry and free parking
The final fixture of the trio will also be the Royals’ last league outing of the season as they attempt to seal their place in Premier League 2 division 1 for the coming 2017/18 campaign. Sunderland currently sit four spots above the U23s in the table, four points clear of the Royals.
The Wearsiders have been struggling for form of late having lost four of their last five in the league, drawing the other with Leicester 2-2 at home.
A win for the Royals against the Foxes could see them within touching distance of the Black Cats by the time these two sides meet, for what could shape up to be a tasty evening affair at Madejski Stadium to finish the U23 season!
