Sweeney snatches the points

Reading's under 21s consolidated their place at the top of Group 2 with a dramatic win over Norwich City on Bank Holiday Monday.

Irish youth international Pierce Sweeney snatched a winner in stoppage time after a tight game at the Canaries' Colney training ground.

Gozie Ugwu and Dominic Samuel had come close for the visitors in the first half, whilst for the home side Norwegian international Alexander Tettey smashed just past the post.

Reading may have felt that they had missed the opportunity to take all three points when Niall Keown headed over late on, but defensive partner Sweeney would ensure that his side made it five wins in their last six games as he smashed home from inside the box.

Reading: Henly, Keown, Webb, Partridge, Sweeney, Cooper, Arnold, Tshibola, Ugwu, Samuel, J Taylor (C)
Subs: Lincoln, Kelly, Ikpeazu, Edwards, Tanner
