Jason Roberts captivated his audience once again last week at the Royal British Legion Club in Tilehurst last week.
The Reading FC Ex-Players’ Association presented ‘An Evening with Jason Roberts’ on Tuesday 18th December, and there wasn't a spare seat in the room - with all proceeds from the sell-out going to charity.
The packed hall witnessed Roberts on top form once again, as the Royals striker discussed his career, his charity work, and his future plans with the audience. Secretary of the Ex-Players Association, Richard Wickson, opened the evening with a short speech before presenting the audience with a short DVD explaining the work of the Jason Roberts Foundation. A montage video of Jason’s best moments at Reading was also played – before Royals legend Ady Williams took to the mic.
The former Wales international introduced Roberts to the room and the frontman was greeted with an excellent reception - with his 'Big Bad Wolf' anthem pumping out as he stepped onto the stage. In the first part of the evening, Roberts took some excellent questions from Ady and the audience and responded with some stimulating answers on a wide range of issues, before a fish and chip supper was enjoyed by all attendees.
Robbo spoke more of the Royals endeavours this season after the interval, looked back on his eventful career so far, and offered his views on some hot topics in the world of football. He then rounded off the night by presenting a free prize draw for some signed boots as well as a raffle prize-giving and, testimony to the true gent that he is, he signed every last autograph and posed for every last photo that was asked of him on the evening.
Reading supporter Simon Edwards was the lucky recipient of Jason’s boots and tweeted “Won a pair of @JasonRoberts30 boots tonight at his talk at Tilehurst British Legion, thanks Jason, was a good night :)”.
