Reading U18s 1 - 0 Everton

The Academy remain at the top of the under-18s Premier League after a 1-0 win over third-placed Everton.

A second half strike from Liam Kelly was enough to reap all three points and secure the Royals' seventh consecutive win.

After an even first half affair, Reading took control of the second 45 and began to assert their authority.

And with 20 minutes left, the vital breakthrough was made. The Toffees lost possession of the ball after a misjudged back-pass, and allowed Kelly to slot home for his second goal in as many games.

The thriving young Royals held on for their seventh win in a row, ending Everton's five-match unbeaten run.

Eamonn Dolan's men will look to make it eight on the bounce when they take on Blackburn Rovers at Hogwood Park on Saturday.

Royals: Lincoln, Amofah, Owusu, Kuhl, Long, Cooper, Stacey, Kelly, Ikpeazu, Tanner (Shame 75), Fosu (Murombedzi 75).

Subs not used: Ward, Taylor-Crossdale, Shaughnessy.
