Owner Anton Zingarevich has thanked the Royals supporters for their backing of the team since the start of the season, and believes their quality continued support is vital as we look to build in the Barclays Premier League over the coming weeks.
Anton contacted the club’s official website to reinforce just how much he values our top class support and said, “Everyone at the club is going in the same direction, the fans, Brian, players, staff, we know where we want to go. It makes such a difference that our fans are positive and I saw another two great atmospheres against Fulham and Arsenal this week.
“When our fans are behind us from the first minute it makes such a difference. When I came to Reading I obviously knew that our supporters were important, but I think I underestimated the difference they really can make to results on the pitch – every time I chatwith Brian and the players they tell me the lift they get from our fans. And we always remember the way the fans helped us get promotion against Forest last season.
“The performance against Arsenal on Tuesday night was very good and so spirited, that is what this club is all about under Brian. We’re new to this League so yes sometimes there are mistakes but that is worked on every single day and if we make less mistakes than the opposition it will help us win games.
“Of course we were disappointed with the result on Tuesday but we were unlucky, we were comfortable at 89 minutes then they scored from a corner, the psychology of the game changed and they scored again in the five minutes of extra time. I was jumping around, biting my nails just like every Reading supporter on Tuesday night, going through all the emotions. It was an exhilarating game to watch. As I said, yes we could have closed the game out but we are learning. And looking over the season so far, performances are good, the players are giving everything, we’ve been unlucky in a couple of games, and in pretty much every match we’ve been the team who could get a result, around the club it’s all positive.
“I met up with Brian in London on Wednesday and over a pint we chatted about football - something we do together a lot. There's nothing like talking all things football with a real football man like Brian, I love it. He already knows that he, the staff and players have everyone’s total support - we are all so together, with the supporters alongside us in what we are trying to achieve, we have total understanding, total unity as one club.
“And as I mentioned, the fans are absolutely vital, we have QPR tomorrow and then two more home games at Madejski Stadium and I know the crowds will be excellent again right round every stand. Come on you Rs.”
