Nick Blackman was asked by reporters at Upton Park on Sunday afternoon whether he felt the Royals would make a swift return to the Barclays Premier League…his response? “Definitely.”
The 23-year-old striker admits that the last few months have been a learning experience both individually and collectively – but is still predicting a bright future at Madejski Stadium.
“Under this manager we will definitely bounce back,” said Blackman.
“We’ll be in a very strong position come this time next year. Of course this year has been a challenge; I’ve played out on the right a couple of times, my natural position is a striker but I’ll play anywhere for the team. It’s taking me a little while longer than I thought it would to get adjusted to the league, but I thought I was starting to do that that.
“Of course people are very frustrated with how this season’s gone, today typified it. We get ourselves into great positions and don’t manage to hold on. People are determined, the squad are determined that’s not the case next season. There is more than enough ability to be in the Premier League in the changing room.”
