Brian McDermott made four changes to his team at Manchester City on Saturday and he was very pleased with his team's display despite a late defeat.
Speaking after the match the boss said, "We have to take consolation from the performance.
"We spoke to the group before the game, said we're going to change the team around and do what we have to do. I'll pick the team the best way I can.
"The back four were very good. Hartey was really tired so had to come off but I thought he did really well. Pearcey came in and did well, the whole group.
"Jimmy Kebe was awesome up and down the line, and the whole group as far as their performance, diligence and concentration was top drawer.
"It was good to have Jem back, we've missed him and we've had a lot of bad luck with injuries. Alex McCarthy is long term, Jason Roberts not quite yet.
"Danny Guthrie came on and did well, so from that perspective it was good but of course doesn't make up for the result.
"This season, everything that could have gone against us has gone against us. I won't exactly wish 2012 away because we got promoted to this league, but I'm looking forward to moving on now and getting a bit of a break because we haven't had one this season."
