Brian McDermott cannot wait for the beginning of the Barclays Premier League this Saturday, and said his team are absolutely ready for the challenge ahead.
We take on Stoke City at Madejski Stadium, kick off 3pm, and an incredible atmosphere is in store as the Royals return to the best league in the world.
Brian said, "It's been nearly four months since we got promoted and we are very much ready now. The Olympics are over and the Barclays Premier League is starting.
"The summer has been good, we've signed seven players and kept the group together from last season. I think the supporters will be happy, we've signed a good calibre of player. We've had a core group together for a long time and that augers well for us. We're looking forward to Saturday.
"I have my own personal goals, the players will too, but our approach has always been one game at a time. We start with Stoke, we want to put on a performance, full house at Madejski, then we move on to the next game at Chelsea, it's as simple as that.
"People ask me about survival but we don't even think about that word, or where we might be in May, we just think about Stoke and giving everything, making sure we're prepared and right."
Brian has been active in the summer transfer window and having done his business early he is not expecting too much more activity. "Not overly. We've got two in each position, which is what I wanted. If something comes up late in the window then maybe. But nothing in the pipeline."
