Reading Football Club can confirm that Daniel Carrico has joined Sevilla on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move to the Spanish side.
The defensive midfielder, who turns 25 next month, left the Royals' training camp in Portugal on Monday afternoon to undergo a medical in Seville and he has now completed a switch to the La Liga outfit.
Before he left his native Portugal to fly to Spain, Royals boss Nigel Adkins gathered his squad together at the end of their pre-season training session and Daniel gave a short speech to his teammates to thank them for their friendship and support during his spell at Reading, a gesture which was roundly applauded by his Royals colleagues.
Carrico arrived at Madejski Stadium back in January but made only three appearances for the Royals in the Barclays Premier League last season.
He now begins a new challenge with Sevilla, who will host Atletico Madrid on the opening day of the La Liga season next month.
Carrico played a part in the second half of his new team's first pre-season friendly last night and he will train with his new teammates today. The deal is still subject to final ratification of the paperwork from the relevant football authorities.
We would like to wish Daniel the very best of luck at Sevilla and thank him for his hard work and his professionalism during his six months at Reading Football Club.
