Shaun Cummings has been provisionally called up to the Jamaican national team, meaning the Royals could be represented by four Reggae Boyz in the next round of World Cup Qualifiers!
Cummings is set to join Adrian Mariappa, Garath McCleary and Jobi McAnuff for a series of four games, beginning with a friendly in the Bahamas and ending with crucial qualifiers against Mexico, USA and Honduras.
The news comes just a week after Alex McCarthy was confirmed as the first Reading Academy player to earn a call up to the English national team – where he could face off against our very own Stephen Kelly, who has earned an initial call up to the Irish squad ahead of a friendly with the Three Lions on 29th May.
Elsewhere, Jem Karacan has been provisionally called up to the Turkish national side, with the final squad expected to be announced early this week.
There will be a chance for some of the club’s youngsters to shine at youth level too, with Ryan Edwards (Young Socceroos), Jonathan Henly (Scotland U19) and Pierce Sweeney (Republic of Ireland U19) all earning call ups.
