Contract extension for Shaun

Defender Shaun Cummings has agreed a new deal with the club that will keep him at Madejski Stadium until 2015.

The 23-year-old full back, who signed for the Royals from Chelsea in 2009, has been a valuable asset to the club and helped Reading clinch the 2011/12 Championship title.

Shaun graduated from the Blues Academy and had loans spells under Roberto Di Matteo and both Milton Keynes Dons and West Bromwich Albion.

He has made seven appearances so far this season and has been rewarded with a new two-and-a-half year contract with the Royals.

"I'm very excited to remain at a club that has such ambition in the Premier League," said Cummings after putting pen to paper.

"To have already played against the likes of Man United and Liverpool is great experience at my age so I can't ask for anything more.

"Everyone wants to fight for their shirt and play in the Premier League - and everyone knows what we've got to achieve to stay here."
