Shaun Cummings has every confidence that the Royals will soon slip into gear after a tricky start to the season.
The full-back returned to the Reading XI for the narrow defeat at Villa Park, and felt that the Royals deserved at least a point for their endeavors.
"It's always nice to play for a team with a good bunch of players and a great manager and assistant manager. The result didn't go our way so we were all disappointed, but these things happen.
"I think we deserved at least a point. As a team we had great shape, so it was harsh to concede a late goal. We try and win every game so to lose was disappointing but we move on to the next game."
Premier League giants Manchester United are up next for Brian McDermott's men - but Cummings insists that, no matter who the opposition is, the Royals will still be looking to pick up maximum points.
As for the slow start, the defender remains relaxed - and rightly pointed out that in recent years, the Royals have shown a knack of improving as the season goes on
"We're at home, and we'll just play how we usually do," Shaun explained. "It will be a good game and we'll be looking to pick up points - it doesn't matter who we're up against.
"It's still early days. We were down at the bottom end of the Championship for a while last season but we came back to win the league."
"In the second half of the season, it doesn't matter where we are in the league we always kick on - like we have done over the last three or four years.
"Every game in the season is important no matter who you play. I have confidence that we will kick on - and so do the rest of the lads."
