Date set for Under-18s’ visit to Chelsea

We can confirm that Reading Under-18s will visit Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Friday 26th February (kick-off 7.05pm) in the FA Youth Cup quarter-final.

Reading supporters are very welcome to attend, but all tickets must be bought in advance – there will be no on-the-day sales whatsoever at Stamford Bridge.  Tickets will be priced at £5 Adults and £3 Concessions (15 & Under, 65 & Over) and will be available to buy in person, by phone or online from our Ticket Office very soon.

It is destined to be a tough evening’s work – Chelsea currently sit top of the Barclays Under-18 Premier League (South), a position above second-placed Reading.  But the Royals were 2-0 victors when the teams clashed at Hogwood Park recently and will be giving it their all to try and secure a place in the final four.

In the third round, it took a last-gasp equaliser against Sheffield United to force extra-time and the eventual 3-1 win – in round four, Fulham were vanquished by the same scoreline in normal-time, despite taking the lead at Motspur Park.

And in round five, two goals by Sam Smith and one by Josh Barrett away at Wolves secured a 3-0 victory at Molineux and a trip to Chelsea, who won 4-1 at AFC Wimbledon in their previous round.

A victory at the Bridge would equal our best ever run in the FA Youth Cup – which came two years ago when we reached the semi-final stage.

So we hope to take a good contingent of travelling support to back our future stars away at Chelsea!
