Cooper and Tanner secure fifth consecutive win

First half goals from Jake Cooper and Craig Tanner were enough to beat West Ham 2-1 and record a fifth successive U18s Premier League win.

With less than five minutes on the clock, the gigantic Cooper headed in to give the Royals an early lead at the Hammers' Academy venue in Essex.

And shortly before half time, Tanner made it two. His 25-yard effort was enough to beat the West Ham goalkeeper and put Reading in control of the match.

The hosts pulled one back when substitute Manny Onnariase headed in from a free-kick, but the young Royals held on to secure their fifth win on the bounce.

The win puts pressure on league leaders Bolton, who slipped up the weekend, and sets up a huge top-of-the-table clash against the Wanderers this Saturday.

Royals: Lincoln; Long, Griffin, Hyam, Cooper; Kuhl, Stacey, Kelly, Murombedzi, Tanner, Ikpeazu (Shama 65).
Subs not used: Amofah, Ward, Shaughnessy, Oliyide.
