Academy player shines

Happy Birthday to Hal Robson-Kanu, who turns 24 today.

The Academy product has had an excellent season, scoring a record number of Premier League goals for a Reading midfielder, outstripping the previous total set by Steve Sidwell.

He has notched seven times in the Premier League, scoring against Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton and Fulham (x3) for an excellent return from 13(+12) League appearances.

In addition he scored a vital goal for Wales with a header away to Scotland as he further cemented his place on the international stage.

His performances were recognised by our supporters, who voted him third in our player of the season award.

From his 13 starts he completed four full 90 minutes, and he was an unused sub on a further six occasions.

Overall it has been a very productive season for the Welshman, and as an Academy product his development gives our supporters even more pride as he shines on the biggest stage.

With pace, strength and excellent technical ability, Hal has shown his attributes and deserves plaudits despite the team's relegation.
