Brian McDermott gave an update on injuries to Adam Federici and Jimmy Kebe following our clash at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Stuart Taylor was a late replacement for Reading’s Australian international goalkeeper, who was injured in Friday afternoon’s training session, whilst Jimmy Kebe was forced off early in our clash with the Toffees.
“Jimmy has done a bit of a groin, and Adam did picked up his injury in training on Friday which was unfortunate,” said McDermott.
“He did it yesterday just as we were about to wrap up the session. It was his ankle - he was in a lot of pain, we don’t know how bad it is. It’s not fractured, it’s swollen a little bit so we’ll see how it’s going to be for next week.”
Former Arsenal and Manchester City stopper Taylor looked assured in-between the sticks on his Royals debut – something which didn’t surprise Brian.
“Stuart was very, very good today. He’s a great lad, a great character and I thought he did a good job for us.”
Scotland under 19 international and Academy product Jonathan Henly was named as a substitute on Merseyside, with Mikkel Andersen unavailable in the Premier League as he is not part of the Royals’ 25 man squad.
