Jimmy Kebe was back with a bang at Loftus Road, as the Malian winger instantly reminded fans what they’d been missing.
The 28-year-old had been forced out for a number of weeks with a niggling injury, but it was if he had never been away as he stepped onto the pitch on Wednesday night – exhibiting the type of blistering pace and trickery that has led Royals supporters to declare numerous times ‘you’re only here for the Kebe!’.
The media shy midfielder even took to his Twitter feed after the game to declare his delight at pulling on the shirt once again.
“So good to be back on the pitch again, and to hear the fans singing,” he declared.
“Very good result tonight – well done everyone!!”.
Brian McDermott also spoke glowingly of his number 14, revealing that far from just loving the beautiful game on a matchday – Jimmy is a scholar of the sport off the field too.
“What not a lot of people know about Jimmy Kebe is that he loves his football. He wants to get better, he always watches videos of us after games,” said McDermott.
“I talked to Jimmy about his feelings on the last game against West Brom and he really knows his stuff. For us, he is a really important player.”
