Brian McDermott believes Stephen Kelly has found the perfect fit by joining Reading.
The right back has picked up three wins and a draw in his first four games as a Royal, and the 29-year-old has made a steady, assured start to life in Berkshire.
Speaking exclusively to Reading FC Player in his post-match video interview, Brian said, "Stephen Kelly is someone I have always liked. When I first met him at Doyler's wedding I really liked him as a man and I said to myself 'I'm going to sign you one day.' He's just a solid individual, great lad, and you know what'll you get from him. He does his job every week.
"This is the perfect fit for him, being here at this stage in his career. I hope that what he's doing for us means he can get himself back in the Ireland side. I wouldn't pick someone else's team but it'd be great to see him playing for the Republic of Ireland again."

Kelly's sequence of results means the Royals are on familiar ground, having always done well in the second half of the season under McDermott's management.
The boss commented, "I know the stats say that after Christmas we've always done well, but to win a game at this level is never easy. You can't assume anything so we continue to work hard in training every single day.
"I had to learn about this League and we've all learned quickly. It's been a steep learning curve for myself, players and staff. As always the dressing room is a happy place for 30 players, all the squad, staff and even those not involved."
