Reading FC Club Secretary Sue Hewett received a wonderful letter from Royals supporter David Corbett earlier this week.
David is the Chairman of the Irish branch of STAR - and wished to express his thanks for the way the staff and playing squad conducted themselves during the recent trip to the Emerald Isle.
My name is David Corbett, I am the Chairman of the Irish Branch of STAR, I asked Trevor Mossman of the STAR Exiles for your email so I could thank you for helping to arrange the meeting with Brian on Monday. I was also hoping you pass on a message to Brian, the Staff and the players particularly Ian Harte and Noel Hunt who spent time with us.
Myself and the other three members who were able to attend are extremely grateful for the time they spent with us. Ian, Noel and Brian along with Nigel, Sal and Lucy spent two hours with us which was more then we expected. The kindness shown by all the staff and the players was exceptional. Each player from Jobi McAnuff down to young Sean long who I got to meet while I was getting an old Reading top signed, were extremely kind and welcoming. This is a reason why the club is so special.
There is no doubt that the reputation of the Club has grown in Ireland as a number of fans travelled from all parts of Ireland to watch the game. Hopefully I will be able to promote the group more now that Reading have played a match over here and people got to see their favourite football players in action.
I hope that in the future the club will be able to come over to Ireland and play in more games and that members of the Irish branch have the pleasure and the honour of meeting the staff and players. If you would like any of the photos we took during the trip let me know and I will send them on.
Once again thank you very much (I really cant say thank you enough) for coming over to Ireland, the meeting with Brian and the generosity of Brian, the Staff and all the players.
