Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has ruled Raheem Sterling out of this Saturday's game with the Royals at Madejski Stadium.
Sterling has been struggling with a thigh problem, and Rodgers revealed in his press conference on Wednesday afternoon that the 18-year-old, who struck the winner the Reds in this season's reverse fixture, will be unavailable for this weekend.
However, winger Stewart Downing is set to be available for the match after recovering from an illness which forced him to be withdrawn after 25 minutes of the Reds' Barclays Premier League game with West Ham last week.
Rodgers said in his press conference: "Young Raheem won't be involved. Stewart Downing had a bout of sickness last weekend just before the game, hence the reason for him having to come off. He's fine now. Apart from that, we're fit and strong."
