Forward heads to Switzerland

Reading Football Club have today completed a deal that will see Mathieu Manset join FC Sion on a permanent deal.

The 22-year-old Frenchman switches to the Swiss Super League outfit for an undisclosed fee, with the final paperwork completed in the last 24 hours.

Manset joined the Royals from Hereford United in January 2011, and went on to score five goals in 8 (+20) league appearances for Brian McDermott’s men – including a memorable brace in our opening day draw with Millwall last season.

He spent the final stages of that campaign on loan with Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.

Director of Football Nick Hammond said: “Manny scored some important goals for us last season, and so played a part in helping us reach the Premier League. However he wants regular first team football and we can’t guaranteed that this year; we’d like to wish him the best of luck in his future career.”
