Goalkeeper facing spell on sidelines

Royals manager Brian McDermott has confirmed that goalkeeper Alex McCarthy will face a spell on the sidelines after injuring his shoulder.

The shot-stopper has been in fine form this season, but collided with the post at the end of Sunday's QPR clash after ensuring Djibril Cisse's shot flew wide.

McDermott said, "Alex has seen a consultant, he has a shoulder joint problem and will be out for a little while."

Midfielders Jem Karacan and Danny Guthrie are also ruled out of Saturday's match with Norwich City, while Noel Hunt is fit to play.
