Defender Alex Pearce has earned a call up to Giovanni Trapattoni’s Republic of Ireland squad, ahead of a friendly with Poland next month.
The 24-year-old Royals’ Academy graduate scored on his debut for the Republic in a 4-1 victory over Oman, and has now been granted a fantastic opportunity to win his second cap.
Elsewhere, Adam Federici has received an Australian call up – as the Socceroos prepare to take on Romania in a friendly in Marbella on February 6th – whilst our Welsh trio of Chris Gunter, Hal Robson-Kanu and Simon Church will be in contention to face Austria on the same evening.
There could also be a trio of Royals in the Jamaican squad – as Adrian Mariappa, Garath McCleary and Jobi McAnuff have been called upon for the Reggae Boyz’s crucial World Cup Qualifier with Mexico – set to take place in the Azteca Stadium, which boasts a capacity of approximately 110,000 people!
