Reading Football Club have reached an agreement with Waitrose, the food shops of the John Lewis Partnership, to extend its sponsorship of the club until the end of the 2014/15 season.
The supermarket has sponsored the Royals since 2008 and remains the only food retailer in Britain to have this kind of deal with a major football team.
As part of its sponsorship of the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons, Waitrose’s name will continue to appear on the team’s home and away kits, Waitrose special offers will be available to season ticket holders, and the supermarket will supply food for the players’ away matches.
Waitrose director of marketing, Rupert Thomas said, "We have established an excellent relationship with the club, which has enabled us to bring our brand to new audiences both locally and nationally. Reading is a true family football club, which shares our same brand values, especially with regards to community engagement. We now look forward to seeing the club challenge for a quick return to the Premier League."
Pat Coyne, Commercial Director at Reading FC added, "We are absolutely delighted that Waitrose has again extended its contract with us. We are looking forward to building on the successful partnership we have enjoyed over the past five seasons and are proud that our logos will continue to appear alongside one another on our shirts."
