Players put the turnaround into words

You'd be forgiven for being lost for words after the drama of Saturday - especially if you were part of it, but a number of Royals were able to express to the media and on Twitter just what it meant to win a game in that manner...

"It was epic. The last ten minutes were brilliant," said the ice-cool Adam Le Fondre.

"We can't wait for the next game because we're in a decent run of form now. Newcastle aren't in great form so hopefully we can take our form there."

Match-winner Pavel Pogrebnyak said: "Of course, I really enjoyed it - and three points were so important for us. I'm very happy that I scored. I shot and maybe I was a little bit lucky but it's a goal.

"We must stay in the Premier League and I hope we do. We will continue to work hard and I think we will be okay."

"There's no better feeling than to get three points - especially the way it happened," added Jem Karacan.

"We went 2-0 down and you get your moans and groans and you're a bit down. But the gaffers made some changes - Alfies got a goal, Jimmy's scored a great header and Pav did what he does best.

"We know that we've got to win our home games. It's a fact - we have to be strong at home. It's always been a fortress for us over the last two or three years and it's no different now.

"Only United and Spurs have come here and done a bit of a job on us. But when teams come here we know that we can get the three points, and that's what we did. I'm delighted for all the boys and we just move on from here.

"We've got to keep out feet on the ground now. We're still down there and we've got to get out of the relegation zone - that's the main thing.

"We went to Newcastle a couple of years ago so we know how hard it going to be to get three points, but they are on a bit of a downward spiral. If we can go there and put them under pressure then we've got a good chance.

"It's Newcastle United - there's no easy game in this league. They're up as one of the biggest teams in the country - it's going to be a tough game at St James' Park."

Captain Jobi McAnuff echoes his team mates' sentiments: "It was a nervy last couple of minutes but it was a fantastic effort. It would have been very easy to go under today - given the circumstances and the position we're in.

"I don't think too many teams would have pulled a win out of that, so it just shows we're all pulling in the right direction and reading off the same page.

"I'd take a one nil any day of the week but it's something we've got to make sure we're not trying to come back from 2-0 every week because it's very hard to do that.

"We need to make this a place where teams come and don't get anything. We've got some real big games coming up at home and we've got to win the vast majority of them. If we can do what we can do and what we did in the last 20 minutes then we'll have a great chance.

"We've left ourselves with a bit of work to do but we often come good in the New Year so hopefully we can have another great second half of the season."
