Aleksandar Gogic training with the Royals

The Royals are set to sign promising young American goalkeeper Aleksandar Gogic this summer.

The 17-year-old stopper will train with the Reading Academy for the remainder of the season, before signing a two-year professional deal before the start of the 2013/14 campaign.

Gogic who hails from New York, has been part of the USA’s Soccer Development Academy – though is also eligible to play for Poland and holds dual nationality.

Aleksandar had previously been part of the youth set up with MLS side New York Red Bulls.

The Royals have already announced the signings of Icelandic duo Tomas Urbancic and Samuel Fridjonsson, who are also set to join the club in June.

On the signing, Academy manager Eamonn Dolan said, "We're pleased to have secured Aleksandar. He's one of our 'under-the-radar' deals and a goalkeeper with a lot of raw talent.

"Hopefully, under the tutelage of Sal Bibbo, Aleksandar will develop into a good player for Reading Football Club."
