Young striker nets in under-19s win

Young Royals striker Dominic Samuel scored for England under-19s on Tuesday night as they comprehensively saw off Denmark.

Samuel came off the bench in the 57th minute, and just nine minutes later he found the back of the net when he smashed home from inside the six yard box after a cross from fellow sub Josh Murphy.

Dominic, 18, has now scored two goals in three appearances for England’s under-19s, and his team have won also all three games against Portugal, Ukraine and now Denmark.

It has been a very good week for our Academy man – after training at St George’s Park on Monday he got the chance to meet and chat with both the full England squad and the under-21s, and they had a group photograph taken at the country’s new training facility.

There was more success for our young players on the international stage, with Shane Griffin playing the full 90 for Ireland’s under-19s as they beat the Czech Republic 2-1. Fellow Royals Sean Long and Pierce Sweeney are also in the squad, and the two teams meet again on Thursday.
