Full back Nicky Shorey is encouraged by the Royals recent form believes we have something positive to build on ahead of Saturday's clash with West Brom.
Shorey has been recovering from a virus over the festive period but played for the reserves in the week - alongside new signings Hope Akpan and Daniel Carrico.
"I'm fine now - I got a game in for the reserves the other day so I'm ready to go now," Nicky said.
"It was good to get the 90 minutes under my belt. The young lads did very well which was pleasing to see. I was very impressed with the new lads - they slotted in very well.
"The West Ham result was a big one for us and it was good to take a point from Swansea, especially if you consider the form they've been on. It's definitely been a positive period and it's something to build on."
With the Baggies coming to town tomorrow, Shorey is looking forward to seeing some familiar faces from his time in the Black Country - as well as former Royal Shane Long.
"It will be great to see some good friends. I had a good time at West Brom and I've got a lot of time for the fans," he added.
"And it will be good to see Longy. He's really coming on leaps and bounds since he was here as a young kid which is nice to see. We know what he's all about and we'll do our best to stop him.
"They're a very strong team, full of talented and experienced players. They've had a good side for the last three or four years and are an established Premier League team now."
