Jem Karacan is aiming to bounce back with a bang as the Royals prepare for a return to the Football League.
The Turkish midfielder was a key part of the side that won the Championship title a year ago, and is determined to leave his mark once again after a short respite over the summer.
“We’ve done it before, we want to start bright next year, go all guns blazing and take the Championship by storm,” said Jem.
“Of course we’ve got a hard slog next season, but we need to come back well prepared for that. We want to win as many games as we can home and away and do everything we can to do that. The improvement is there for everyone to see, the gaffer has just come in and we have a license to come out and play and start to enjoy our football again, now we need to work on that.”
The 24-year-old now has 159 appearances under his belt in a Reading shirt since graduating through the Academy – and has urged everyone connected with the club to continue to show their traditional spirit.
“We need to stay positive, if you’re a diehard Reading fan you’ve got to take the good times with the bad and move on together. We’re a great club, a family club and everyone sticks together. That’s the man point – we’ve got to stick together.”
