After an historic evening for Jamaican trio Adrian Mariappa, Jobi McAnuff and Garath McCleary – social media has been buzzing with talk of Reading’s brand new Reggae Boyz!
The Royals stars turned out for Jamaica in a goalless draw with Mexico on Wednesday evening, ending the home side’s 19-game winning streak at Azteca stadium – a run that stretches all the way back to November 9, 1997!
McAnuff was making his first appearance in green and gold for almost a decade, whilst Garath enjoyed an eye catching debut – and all three were warmly welcomed by Jamaican fans!
Indeed there was plenty of support back home too, with Chris Gunter admitting he stayed up until the small hours to watch his close friend and former Nottingham Forest teammate McCleary enjoy his international bow.
Jobi described the result as "the best of his career" after the game - and Jamaica are now in with a real shout of qualifying for World Cup 2014 in Brazil. The top three teams from each group advance to the World Cup finals, while the 4th place team advances to an intercontinental play-off.
