The Royals have eight senior players away on international duty over the next ten days, our under 21s are in action on Monday afternoon and the first team group return to training on Thursday.
We have two trios of internationals: Jobi McAnuff, Garath McCleary and Adrian Mariappa are with Jamaica while Simon Church, Chris Gunter and Hal Robson-Kanu are on Wales duty. Stephen Kelly is with Ireland and goalkeeper Jonathan Henly with Scotland u19s.
Our under 21s host Newcastle on Monday afternoon, aiming to extend their lead at the top of the group. The likes of Alex McCarthy will be involved as they aim to get valuable game time under their belts.
The first team group’s pre-planned training schedule sees them back at Hogwood on Thursday for the first of six training sessions before our next Barclays Premier League game away to Arsenal.
Kelly, Henly, Church, Gunter and Robson-Kanu will be back in Berkshire by next Wednesday morning, with our Jamaican trio arriving in the UK early the next day.
Alex Pearce is on standby for Ireland, Jem Karacan was in the provisional Turkey squad, while young Pierce Sweeney, Shane Griffin and Sean Long are with Ireland u19s but Conor Shaugnessy is injured. Dominic Samuel has withdrawn from England u19s duty, but goalkeeper Lewis Ward is with England’s u16s.
