Reading 3 (Ikpeazu 20, 35, 63)
A hat-trick from Uche Ikpeazu sealed an excellent win over Arsenal and ended the Gunners' five match unbeaten run.
Ikpeazu took his tally to nine for the season as the Academy continued their impressive start to the campaign.
Reading started the brighter and went ahead mid-way through the first half when Liam Kelly's set piece was met by the head of Ikpeazu to score.
Ten minutes before the break, Ikpeazu notched another. Tarique Fosu-Henry played in the physical striker, who made no mistake to double the young Royals' lead.
While the Gunners had a couple of long-range efforts, Reading could have gone further ahead but were denied by Arsenal goalkeeper Josh Vickers.
The visitors made changes after the break and came out of the blocks fast, but a third goal from the dynamic Ikpeazu secured three points.
Bismark Amofah released Ikpeazu, whose initial effort cannonned back to him - and the forward struck the rebound
After being released by Amofah, Ikpeazu had his initial effort blocked before striking the rebound into the net to complete his hat-trick.
It was a deserved win for the young Royals - who will next play Norwich away a week on Saturday.
