The Royals under-21s are through to the semi-finals of the Barclays Under 21 Premier League Cup after a gutsy 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Gozie Ugwu opened the scoring in the 13th minute. After a classic Royals breakaway, Craig Tanner had his strike rebound off goalkeeper Flatt, and Ugwu was on hand to calmly pass the ball into the net.
Royals defender Niall Keown produced a fantastic last-ditch block to deny Wolves, while goalkeeper Dan Lincoln was performing heroics to keep the hosts at bay.
And on 35 minutes, the lead was doubled when Tanner tapped in from close range after Jack Stacey was denied.
Wolves pulled one back just before half time, moments before Tanner saw a penalty saved after Tariqe Fosu was fouled.
The Royals battled with grit for the duration of a scrappy second half, and the victory was confirmed at the death when Ugwu scored when he was one-on-one with the 'keeper.
Reading U21s will now face Arsenal in the semi-finals, date to be confirmed.
