Winger Hal Robson-Kanu scored our late equaliser at Brighton on Tuesday night, and believes the workout and performance was a welcome boost for the squad.
The Royals played well, particularly in the second half, and got the minimum their efforts deserved when Hal headed home Shaun Cummings' excellent cross.
Hal said, "It was a good workout for the boys again, it's what we need at this time of the season. We're really preparing for the start of the season, our focus now is on Saturday, and in the end we definitely deserved a draw if not more.
"We kept going, we've had that instilled in us from the manager, all the players do that here so it's a unique trait in all of us. We earned it in the end and just need to look forward again now to Palace.
"We know the way Brighton play, they are good at what they do but obviously we are as well, we knew what to expect and I thought we carried out the game plan."
Hal scored his second goal in the space of four days after his penalty at Bournemouth on Saturday, and said, "For me it was fantastic, I'm feeling good, working hard on a day to day basis. I'm just going to keep doing what I do and get the rewards."
Full highlights from the game will be live on Reading FC Player later today.
