Wolves 4 (O'Hara 4, 48, Ebanks-Landell 19, Forde 86)
Reading's under-21s were beaten 4-0 by an experienced Wolverhampton Wanderers side on Monday night at Telford's Bucks Head Stadium.
Wolves named a side which included the likes of George Elokobi, Kevin Foley, Anthony Forde and Jamie O'Hara - who all have Premier League experience.
It was O'Hara who set the tone for the match when he scored after four minutes. He effectively played a one-two with Jake Cassidy, who returned his cross with a dangerous ball in for the former Tottenham man who slid home.
Our youngsters were under the kosh, and our goalkeeper Jon Henly had to be guard to save from Liam McAliden before defender Jake Cooper did well to clear off the line.
But minutes later, the hosts doubled their advantage when Ethan Ebanks-Landell headed in from Zeli Ismail’s right-wing corner.
Reading, though, improved as the half time whistle beckoned. Dominic Samuel cut into the area and pushed a pass to Gozie Ugwu, whose powerful shot was pushed away by Wolves stopper Aaron McCarey.
But after the interval, Wolves scored again and were virtually out of sight. O'Hara the scorer, as he lost his marker from a free-kick to slot home their third.
17-year-old Liam Kelly forced Wolves 'keeper McCarey into a full length save just before the hour mark from a long-distance strike.
Henly had to be on top form to limit the decifit, but he had no chance when Forde made it four in the 86th minute with a low effort from 25-yards, after he had taken a short pass from O’Hara.
A tough one to take for our youngsters against a very strong Wanderers side, but Martin Kuhl's men will be looking to bounce back next Monday afternoon when they take on West Brom at Hogwood Park, behind closed doors.
