Fran Kirby struck her tenth goal of the season to earn RFC’s Women a deserved victory over Yeovil Town.
The only goal of the game came at the start of the second half and was enough to swiftly avenge the League Cup defeat the Royals suffered last week at Yeovil.
Reading came flying out of the blocks from the first whistle – Rebecca Jane forced the Yeovil goalkeeper into a mistake, but Kirby’s resulting shot was blocked.
Our Ladies continued to dominate, having much of the play in Yeovil’s half – but saw efforts cleared off the line in a frustrating first half.
Louis Roche and Kirby both came close just before half time – but the Glovers 'keeper denied the two in-form strikers.
The Royals continued to dominate after the break – and notched the goal they undoubtedly deserved when Kirby fired home.
With barely a minute played of the restart, Roche linked up well with Jane, who picked out Kirby to put herself in double figures for the season.
But Reading wouldn't let their foot of the gas – Roche had a free kick well saved before Harriet Scott saw her excellent volley from outside the box denied by the Yeovil ‘keeper.
The Glovers pressed forward with time running out, but to no avail as Reading inflicted revenge and won their fourth successive league match.
