Noel and Stephen Hunt set Reading FC history this week by becoming our first ever brothers to play on the international stage.

As club historian Alan Sedunary explained, "We had the Corbett brothers Bertie and Reggie on our books in the late 1890s, and they both went on to play for England, but not whilst Reading players - and nor did they play for England together."

Wednesday's Irish international involved four of our players, but this is not the first time we have had so many involved in an international game.

In May 2007 Alan Bennett, Kevin Doyle, Stephen Hunt and Shane Long all faced Ecuador, and the same four faced Bolivia a couple of days later.

Our current squad is almost certainly our most experienced ever in terms of international recognition, with 15 of the 16-man squad from Sheffield United having some recognition - only James Harper missing out.

When the Hunts lined up at Dagenham in the Carling Cup this season, they became the first brothers since the Wagstaffs in the 1970s to play in our first team.
