Almost 150 Waitrose and John Lewis employees dusted off their boots to play in an inter-company 5-a-side football tournament at Madejski Stadium last weekend.

16 male teams and 2 female teams had seen off the competition at a previous tournament a few weeks earlier, with their ultimate prize, the chance line up alongside their colleagues and play on the Royals' pitch.

Teams travelled from far and wide to take part, with John Lewis Glasgow and Waitrose Newport certainly making up the mileage!

Each player enjoyed 'a day in the life of a footballer' experience with a typical pre-match meal in the Players' Lounge, a warm up coaching session with Reading FC coaches, plus full use of the Dressing Rooms.

The day was full of superb football and glorious sunshine, with many colleagues, friends and family supporting their team, whilst topping up on their tan from the comfort of the West Stand!

Congratulations to Waitrose Beckenham, Waitrose Rushden, Waitrose Tenterden and John Lewis Cambridge for reaching the semi-finals of the competition.

Well done to Waitrose Tenterden who walked away with the silverware following a 2-1 victory against Waitrose Beckenham in the men's final!

The women's final provided fantastic entertainment with a hatful of goals as John Lewis Leicester defeated Waitrose Daventry 3-1.
