Reading FC's Football In The Community scheme interacts with thousands of local children every year.

The scheme incorporates a huge range of activities covering an area as far afield as Hungerford, Slough, Wallingford and Romsey, with a dominant presence in Berkshire.

Our scheme employs eight coaches full time and more than 40 on a part time basis. Every coach is fully UEFA qualified, first aid trained and Criminal Record Bureau checked.

The scheme was awarded FA Charter status in 2004.

As well as the development of young players, our scheme also helps managers and coaches, as well as identifying talent for the Academy through the Development Centre programme.

The Community scheme also takes charge of our Girls Centre Of Excellence.

Community activities
There are a large range of different activites our scheme undertakes:

-Soccer schools out of term time. Week-long courses for all abilities with specialist training if desired for strikers and goalkeepers.

-In-school development programmes, ranging from PE lessons to extra-curricular after-school clubs.

-Programmes outside of schools, from Mini-Kickers for five to seven-year olds to invite-only Development Centres for elite players.

-Links with local clubs including taking training sessions for youth teams and running managers' days to help coaches.

-Estate work with under-priviledged groups.

-Use of the Academy dome including soccer schools.

-Half-time Community Cup during RFC home games.
