Academy stars back anti-racism campaign

Posted on: Fri 19 Oct 2007

Academy players Jacob Walcott and Abdulai Baggie attended a special football poetry event at Madejski Stadium's Study Centre on Thursday afternoon to launch our involvement in this year's Kick It Out anti-racism campaign.

51 children from local schools Blessed Hugh Faringdon, the Reading School, ReadIng Girls and Caversham Park Primary took part in the sessions, which were led by our Study Centre Manager Jenny Jones.

The special guest was renowned football poet Crispin Thomas, who initiated discussion on the topic of racism through his poetry.

Our Academy players Jacob and Abdulai interacted with the children, sharing some of their experiences both on and off the football pitch.

The Club will be staging a number of events for Kick It Out in the next ten days, centred around our home game with Newcastle United on 27th October when the players will warm up in Kick It Out t-shirts.
