Cisse supports Kick It Out event

Posted on: Fri 10 Apr 2009

Royals midfielder Kalifa Cisse was the special guest at a 'Kick It Out' event at Christ The King school in Whitley on Monday afternoon.

As part of the 'One Game, One Community' project, our Community team is working with six local schools to explore the issues of race, diversity and citizenship.

Community coach Paul Hughes explained, "It was great to have Kalifa along and good of him to give up the time after training.

"He's obviously studying hard in his lessons because his English is improving a lot! So he was able to talk to the kids who were all pleased to see a real-life professional footballer!

"Kalifa did a question and answer session and signed lots of autographs, and his appearance was a great addition to our project."

Young goalkeeper Ben Hamer also supported the scheme by attending a similar event at Geoffrey Field School the previous week.

The project sees us visiting Christ the King, Geoffrey Field, Whitley Park, New Christchurch, The Ridgeway and Katesgrove Schools, with around 30 children aged 10 and 11 from each school taking part.

All the pupils are receiving a one hour football coaching session and another hour educational session to discuss the issue of racial diversity.
