Harper's playing for success

Posted on: Tue 12 Feb 2008

Madejski Stadium's Study Support Centre held an open day this week, and Chairman John Madejski joined midfield maestro James Harper at the event.

Pupils from Churchend School came along, and the youngsters took part in activities which use the power of football to help literacy, numeracy and IT skills as part of our Playing For Success scheme.

A number of businesses including Kyocera, Renaissance Reading Hotel, Belinda Knight Solicitors and Sainsbury's attended to find out more about how their businesses could support this initiative.

The pupils were thrilled to have a chance to ask James questions about Reading FC, life as a footballer and how he got into football. He also chatted with businesses about how they can get involved.

John Madejski attended to show his support for the scheme which has been running at Reading Football Club for five years, as did councillors Fred Pugh and Mike Townend.
