Harper's celebration event

Posted on: Tue 16 Jun 2009

James Harper was at Madejski Stadium last week for Reading Study Support Centre celebration event.

Pupils from Park Lane, Wilson, Ranikhet and Moorlands had just completed a six-week Playing For Success course and they brought along parents and carers to see some of the exciting work they had produced.

Pupils showed video stadium tours, podcasts and websites made during the previous six weeks.

Midfield man Harper presented each child with a certificate to reward their achievements, and he also had a quick chat with many of the thrilled pupils before signing autographs.

Pupils who had performed exceptionally well were presented with vouchers for meals, donated by TGI Friday, or will be sent tickets for one of next seasons Championship clashes, courtesy of Reading FC.

Jenny Jones, Study Centre Manager, said, "This group of children have produced some really good work. We have helped them to make the most of new technology to develop their literacy and numeracy skills, and the standard of the podcasts and videos show how keen children are to embrace these new challenges."

Delighted parents told centre staff how their children had really enjoyed the scheme and had grown in confidence.

Staff at the Study Centre are now busy working with four new Primary schools.
