Nigel was a regular at Watford's for nearly two decades after making his debut under the management of Graham Taylor in 1983.
He retired from playing in 2002 and became Watford's reserve team manager, later having a brief spell as assistant manager to Ray Lewington before leaving the Hornets in 2005.
He spent the 2005/6 season working on a part-time basis for Tottenham Hotspur and Swansea City whilst also completing his UEFA Pro Licence.
Nigel's main responsibility at Madejski Stadium is working with the squad's younger players to help them make the progression into first team football.
