Chris Cummins

Posted on: Tue 20 Sep 2011
Chris Cummins joined the Royals in April 2011, tasked with coaching and developing the younger members of Brian McDermott's squad - easing their transition from Academy football to the rigours of the professional game.

He arrived at Hogwood Park with a superb track record in his field, having spent over a decade working in the youth department at Watford - where he was given credit for the emergence of England international Ashley Young.

Indeed, the Manchester United winger has placed on record his thanks to Cummins - saying:
"He's been a massive influence on my career, he always helped me out and I've always been thankful to him for what he's done. He was one of the coaches that took me to Watford when I was nine or ten years-old and he was my coach through most the youth team.

"He was around when I was going through the reserves and when I finally got into the first team. We still keep in touch now and his advice has helped me from back then all the way up to now."

Chris also spent time as head coach of MLS side Toronto FC before returning to England - and regularly takes charge of 'Reading XI' sides in friendly matches throughout the year.
