Coventry 1 (Eastwood 64)
Reading 3 (Rasiak 1, 72, McAnuff 54)

The Royals put in a scintillating performance to take all three points away from the Ricoh Arena, with a brace from Grzegorz Rasiak adding to Jobi McAnuff's first goal for the club earning Brendan Rodgers' men a deserved victory.

Reading started brilliantly and took the lead after just 31 seconds, Rasiak heading home a pinpoint McAnuff cross at the far post.

The score was doubled after the break and it was McAnuff that got it, bagging a deserved goal after a thoroughly accomplished performance.

The irresistable wing wizard reacted quickly to latch onto a half-cleared Brian Howard cross, lashing home emphatically from the right hand side of the area.

Freddy Eastwood's spectacular 25-yard effort briefly gave the visitors a Halloween scare, but in reality it was never in doubt - as Rasiak grabbed his second after substitute Shane Long had crashed a drive off the post.

Brendan Rodgers received a standing ovation as he applauded a vocal travelling support at the full time whistle, and there is sure to be a positive attitude in the camp as they prepare for a mouth-watering clash with bottom of the table Ipswich next Saturday.

First Half

Brendan Rodgers made just one change to his side that lost narrowly to Leicester on Monday evening, with captain Ivar Ingimarsson returning to the starting XI in place of the injured Matt Mills (knee).

Jimmy Kebe did not travel after picking up a slight groin injury in midweek, with Darren O'Dea taking his place on the bench

The Royals took the lead after 31 seconds of the game, as Grzegorz Rasiak rose brilliantly at the far post to head home a pinpoint Jobi McAnuff cross.

It was the perfect start for Brendan Rodgers side, who silenced the home support with a blistering performance in the opening stages.

Gylfi Sigurdsson flashed a shot wide from 18-yards with four minutes gone, as the first boos started to reverberate around the Ricoh from a frustrated home following.

Moments later Ryan Bertrand made a dangerous foray into the area, beating his marker before forcing a smart save out of Konstantopoulos.

Fans who arrived early at the stadium would have been able to take in the North London derby on the big screen, and the football on display from the Royals wasn't too dissimilar to that of Arsene Wenger's men - as they rattled the Sky Blues with some slick passing moves.

McAnuff combined brilliantly with Brian Howard in the middle of the park before Marek Matejovsky picked up the ball on the right wing, though the Czech international's cross was dragged wide by Simon Church.

City responded briefly as Jack Cork headed home only to see the effort ruled out for offside, but the visitors were soon pushing City back in their own half as Howard lashed a shot wide after tenacious work from McAnuff.

A heart stopping goalmouth scramble would force Adam Federici into a save after 21 minutes, but the Aussie stopper did well to hold onto the ball with numerous Coventry players lurking inside the six yard box.

Another effort from Howard, this time from 25 yards, scraped past the post four minutes later, whilst at the other end Aron Gunnarsson responded with a turn and shot just over the bar.

McAnuff was a livewire on the wing and again tested Konstantopoulos with a run and shot seconds before the break.

Second Half
The former Palace man deserved a goal, and he got one eight minutes after the interval, lashing home emphatically after latching onto a deflected Brian Howard cross.

Despite their two goal lead Brendan Rodgers men were relentless in attack, as Rasiak came within inches of a second; only denied by more good work form Konstantopoulos after a well-worked set piece routine.

Both 'keepers had to be at the top of their game and, coming into the match on scintillating form, Adam Federici was more than up to the challenge. He pulled off a wonderful save from Jack Cork's blazing effort after 58 minutes, tipping onto the bar and away from danger.

As the home support started to sense an unlikely comeback substitute Leon Best broke the offside trap to break through on goal, but again failed to contend with the Royals number one as 'Feds' stood up well to kick away his effort.

However he could do nothing about the opening Sky Blues goal, as Freddy Eastwood cracked home an unstoppable strike from 25 yards, setting up a tense final half hour for the travelling Royals support.

Alex Pearce saw a header cleared off the line and with the clock ticking away perhaps the away side may have felt that luck was starting to turn against them yet again, but that was wiped out as Rasiak grabbed his brace. The big Pole reacted brilliantly to poke into the roof of the net after sub Shane Long had hit the inside of the post, sending the vocal travelling fans into raptures as he threw himself into his trademark celebration - sliding to his knees infront of the Jewson Stand.

There was almost time for a fourth in stoppage time - again McAnuff the instigator. The diminutive wide man teased and tormented the City defence on the left before cracking a low cross into the six yard box, which deflected off a Sky Blue boot before sliding inches wide of the post.

Coventry's afternoon was summed up in the dying moments as left back Jordan Clarke skewed a golden chance into row z from all of twelve yards, and the Royals were left to celebrate another win on the road as referee Mr Ilderton brought proceedings to an end.
