Hunt signs new contract

Posted on: Wed 11 Jul 2007

Stephen Hunt has signed a new three-year contract to extend his stay at Madejski Stadium until 2010.

The midfielder, who joined Reading on a free transfer from Brentford two years ago, made 28(+7) Premier League appearances last season, and finished third in our player of the season vote.

He also earned his first international caps for the Republic of Ireland.

Director of Football Nick Hammond told readingfc.co.uk, "Stephen Hunt is a great example of what can be achieved with belief, dedication and willpower.

"He rose to the challenge last season with some superb performances to become a key member of our team.

"We think he will get even better in the next three years."

Stephen added, "I'm very pleased to sign. Over the last couple of seasons Reading Football Club has become a very big part of my life.

"Hopefully both the club and myself will continue to move forward.

"I am very happy to stay."
