Posted on: Mon 20 Aug 2007

The Royals under 18s got their season off to a cracking start on Saturday.

Our youngsters travelled to Derby, and earned an impressive 3-1 victory.

Derby opened the scoring, but we came back to earn a cracking win.

Nicholas Bignall [pictured] and Gylfi Sigurdsson scored before Mitchell Bryant added the third on his full under 18s debut.

Reading: McCarthy; Kelly, Spence, Cox, Kamdjo; Hateley (c), Sigurdsson, Bayley, Bryant (Downes 80); Bignall (Webb 89), Illugason (Frewen 70)
Subs: Kitteridge, Lyskov

Our next under 18s fixture is at home to Middlesbrough this Saturday.

Eamonn Dolan's boys will be hoping to repeat their good form from last season, when they finished second in their Academy league and only lost in the FA Youth Cup to eventual winners Liverpool.
