Coppell speaks on Kitson & Lita
Boss Steve Coppell spoke about both Dave Kitson and Leroy Lita after our vital 2-1 win over Wigan.
Kitson put in a man-of-the-match performance, scoring one and setting up another.
Leroy was not involved in our 16-man squad, with Shane Long getting the nod for a place on the bench.
Kits was a constant thorn in Wigan's side, and with two goals in two games he is beginning to make his mark in the Barclays Premier League.
Coppell said, "Kits gives us something that the other strikers don't.
"He has a lot more stature, and unlike a lot of those tall players who you only expect to be good in the air, he's very, very quick footed and he is deceptive.
"He was the fulcrum of a lot of our attacks.
"For the second goal, when he cut in I thought he was going to smash one. I had visions of the rigging rising or somebody in row F ducking! But he's clever.
"If it hadn't worked you would have been going mad asking him why he hadn't shot. But that's why he is different."
Lita's absence led to questions from the press, and the boss explained, "I just didn't want two forwards on the bench.
"Longy is so mobile when he comes off the bench - he's got this real burst of energy.
"It was a very close judgement call as to which one I put on the bench, and I went with Longy.
"Did Lita take it well? No, but I wouldn't expect him to. It's not the way of the modern footballer.
"There are very few players who will take those kind of decisions well, but I've got to make those kind of decisions.
"If I make decisions on how people are going to react I'll never make a decision!"
Steve was asked by one journalist if Lita had left the game early after the team was named, but he said, "No, because I told him on Friday.
"I don't demand that all players come and watch games anyway. It can be uncomfortable, everyone asking him why he's not playing."
